Freestyle Fridays

My long time Vet has decided to retire.  Although I am sad he has decided to do so I am thrilled that he will be working only on Saturday mornings.  This is a good thing for Frankii as he quite likes him.  This Dr. has taken care of 3 dogs I've had since 1981 and has done so with the utmost care of all of them including me.  I'll never forget the tear he shed when it came time to euthanize Tex.  I will be delivering this card with a good bottle of scotch tomorrow, weather permitting.  Can someone please call Mother Nature and let her know we've had enough snow!!

I've called him a Rock Star for quite some time and it always adds an extra glint to his eyes.  On a base of Crumb Cake I did two layers of Very Vanilla and added Old Olive and Crumb Cake designer papers.  On the Very Vanilla I daubed Early Espresso to give it a little depth.  The crown from Grunge Rock was stamped in Early Espresso.  The You is also stamped with Early Espresso but in marker form. It's from a sentiment from the Lots of Thanks set.  The star is a die cut from Die-Namics - Accent It Rock and Roll.  I cut it with Not Quite Navy and sprayed the bigger one with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz.  I really like how this turned out.  To make sure the Star stuck really good I used Spray Mount.  Adding a rhinestone just seemed to add that extra touch.

********REGINA'S MISSION********

Ok Regina for this week your mission will be to use a marker, color of your choice, to add a sentiment or part of an image.  Something a little different for you to try.

You all have a great week and please call on the Sun to make an appearance.  Haven't seen it in over a week!

Freestyle Fridays

Regina was to create using Strawberry Slush and ribbon this week.  Doesn't this box look the cutest! From the looks of this sneak it's perfect timing for all the colds and flus going round and round this time of year.  I know I can use a bowl of soup everyday until this cold weather decides to warm up.  Which, by the way, in these parts won't be until early/late May.

You can find Regina's post here with all the in and outs. She's used a variety of products that will interest you.  Best of all, leave her a comment on how much you like it.  She'll love that!

Freestyle Fridays

A few weeks ago Regina did me a huge favor and knowing her love of vintage, ribbons and buttons, I sent her this card.  Hopefully by the time she reads this it will have arrived.

I picked out the DSP first, in this case, Everyday Enchantment, and built it from there.  I thought Strawberry Slush would make a great base and by the way, you hardly see it used.  The die from Dress Up was cut with Very Vanilla and using a dauber I applied Early Espresso.  I actually "sewed" the buttons from the Artisan Embellishment Kit with Linen Thread.  A first for me!  To make the thread thingy (I have no idea what it's called) I used a dog bone die and cut off the edges.  I tried to had cut one and it came out all lopsided and that just wouldn't do.  I then wrapped some linen thread around that.  The sentiment is from the Another Thank You Photopolymer Set.  Also added some non-SU crochet trim.  I got the original idea from a mini thank you card I received from placing an online order from a die company last year.  It's been sitting on my craft table all this time waiting to be replicated.

Thank you Regina for helping me acquire a much loved necklace.  I couldn't have done it without you!

********REGINA'S MISSION********

As mentioned above, Strawberry Slush is hardly ever seen in cardmaking.  Maybe it's because the sun is setting sooner?  Not sure.  Anyhow, Regina, your mission this week, and as always, if you choose to accept it, is to use Strawberry Slush AND ribbon.  Now get those ideas flowing and get creating :)

Freestyle Fridays

Regina is up this week and she's done it MDS style.  I'm grateful for that because I haven't clicked on that icon in months.  Must do something about that this weekend. Thanks for the reminder Regina!

The mission was to use Baja Breeze and Crumb Cake.  From the looks of this sneak Regina has completed yet again another successful mission.  And I see that she used the crown that she loves so much.  For complete details check out her blog post here and you'll also get to see what was in the muslin bag that I sent her that I kept a surprise until it arrived at her house.    And please, don't forget to take a moment to leave Regina some love.  Regina, I'm delighted that you are pleased with your gift.

Freestyle Fridays - Regina's Birthday

Regina celebrated a birthday last week and true to form I missed the party.  The pictures below are what she will be receiving sometime late next week and I didn't want to keep her waiting much longer.  Let's start with card, and, YES, its square.

Crumb Cake and Baja Breeze were really calling me for this one.  I got the idea and sketch off the Sizzix blog a few weeks ago.  The only embellishment that was not handmade is the butterfly one.  I thought it added color and a bit of drama the minute I saw it in my embellishment drawer and just had to add it.  I used the texture plate Pattern 1 quite a bit and did a lot of distressing.  The heart was made with two different punches using Baja Breeze DSP and Crumb Cake.  A little Crumb Cake daubing was done on the DSP.  The center is from a daisy punch with a Jewel Rhinestone added in the middle.  The flower on the lower left was made with Baja Breeze and Baja Breeze DSP.  I happen to have blue coral buttons and what's a birthday card for Regina without a button....  I little twine was added in the middle.  To make the solid Baja Breeze a little more texturized I used a mat and a stylus by circling the punch out and adding more pressure to the stylus as I went around in the circles.  It was great to see it take shape this way and how the petals popped up a bit.

The birthday candles in the lower right were made with a punch.  The banner was cut with the Framelits Bitty Banner that was adhered with foam tape.  The sentiment was stamped with Early Espresso Craft Ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.  The paper is Crumb Cake DSP. And, of course added a little rhinestone to that.

If you are coming from Regina's blog post what you saw was this:

the little bag that accompanies the card.  This is a muslin bag that I stamped on the Birthday Candle (form a wheel that I always take apart and apply foam to it).  The Happy Birthday is from a hostess set from days gone by called Warmest Regards.  It didn't like the plain cord on the bag so I pulled it out and threaded in Baja Breeze Seem Binding by attaching a diaper pin and threaded in that way.  A couple of heart charms were tied to the ends.

As for what's inside - that's a secret until Regina receives it.  I want to spoil the whole thing.  Besides, I didn't think to take pictures of it.

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY REGINA, YOU DESERVE THE VERY BEST!!

********REGINA'S MISSION********

Regina, your mission this week is a color combination.  Yup, crumb cake and Baja breeze.  Give it go, you may like what you come up with.  I know I will (wink).

For those of you in the States that like to shop online for Christmas gifts have a look at Regina's Scentsy blog on the right hand side of her blog.  There's some really reasonable priced items there that you can get for your family and friends.

Freestyle Fridays

Regina's mission this week was to use material.  From the looks of the sneak that she sent below it appears that Regina has used the Stampin' Up Tag A Box with plenty of details and embellishments.

Only Regina could bring such a project to a high level with only 1 product idea.  Is that embossing I see on the side of the box?  Creative indeed.  See for  yourself at her post here.  You'll be just as amazed as I am with her never ending talent.  And, please, let her know that by leaving her a little comment.  It takes under a minute.

Freestyle Fridays

Did you all survive Halloween?  Are the Christmas decorations up yet in the stores near you?  Crazy!
A while back a friend of mine celebrated her birthday and I wanted to create a little something different and out of my comfort zone.  This is what I came up with.

I started by choosing the material and matched the colors with it as best as I could.  I ironed on sticky back paper to the material then cut it through the Big Shot using the Stampin' UP mason jar die.  The green is Pear Pizzazz and the pink is from a stack of paper I bought at Costco oh so long ago.  The balloons were made with a die from Lil' Inkers that I first stamped using Versamark and clear embossing powder.  The pink paper has quite a shine to it.

I used silver and white crochet thread to have the balloons float out of the jar and attached them with dimensionals.  When I first used the sticky back paper (heat and bond I believe it is called) I actually placed it on the iron board on the wrong side so now my board has quite a shine to it.  No matter, I purchased it especially for crafting at a thrift store for $5.  I will eventually need a new cover for it but that's what happens in craft room right??  And, the card is square, 5 x 5 just to make Regina proud of me :)

*******REGINA'S MISSION********

So for your mission this week Regina, you are to use material.  I know you got some in that store of yours.  Glue it, die cut it, use it as a background..... You know what to do.

Let us know if you would like to join in on these missions.  Would love to have you come along for the adventure.

Freestyle Fridays

Hello Freestyle Fridays Fans.  We are coming to the end of another week and it's Regina's turn to dazzle us with her creativity.

Her simple mission was to use glossy paper.  That was all the instructions she received and look at what she did.  To see the full version you'll have to head over to her blog here. I'm sure your jaw will drop just like mine did.  Please be kind and leave her little comment.  It will only take you minute.

Freestyle Fridays

Hello and welcome to another edition of Freestyle Fridays.  Sometime back in the summer I made the card below and just this last week realized I had not posted it yet.

It started with Coastal Cabana, followed by a layer of Shimmery Paper stamped in Coastal Cabana with the French Script background stamp.  The sentiment "my friend" was stamped with Strawberry Slush.  On Glossy Paper I embossed with white embossing powder the flourish from Flowering Flourishes and brayered Strawberry Slush all over it.  Once the brayering was done I wiped the Glossy Paper with a paper towel to bring out the white embossing.  Before adhering this layer ribbon was added, Black Satin and Silver Organdy, and put on some Jewels Basic Rhinestones to give some bling.

Before we get to Regina's mission for this week I would like to introduce you to a new addition to our family.  Meet Jake!
Right now he is all of 4 months old.  A Siberian X he is all legs which makes me suspicious he may have some Greyhound in him.  He really looks up to Frankii and watches him very closely.  Hopefully he will only pick up the good habits... he is teething something awful and actually likes to suck on my thumb.  His favorite thing to do at the moment is chase leaves and he's got lots to keep him busy. We are having a blast watching him grow and learn.

********REGINA’S MISSION********

For this week Regina your mission will be to use Glossy Paper.  That's all your getting because I know you can do wonders with that.

Freestyle Fridays

Regina's mission this week was to do something with a fall theme.  From the sneak below she did not disappoint!  Trust her to come up with something creative and very artistic.

Go to her blog post here  to read how this creative endeavor came to be.  Although it took a left instead of a right she added such imaginative details that you can almost smell fall in the air.

As some of you may know Regina is a frequent contributor to Craft Project Central.  She is giving away a free one month subscription.  Leave her a comment for her submission this month here and she'll let you know if you've won by October 14th.  Be sure to leave her your email address so that she can get a hold of you.

Freestyle Fridays

Since we've begun Fall I just had to make a card with a sunflower.  And yes, I've used a retired set.  I got the idea from stamperdog.com.  I keep a binder with ideas of cards that I've seen here and there and this was an old one.

I started with So Saffron and added a background that I had laying around from another card I made quite some time ago.  It's stamped on Very Vanilla using the French Script background stamp in Early Espresso and sprayed with Gesso to lighten it a little.  I then made two circles using Nestabilities in So Saffron and Very Vanilla.  On the Very Vanilla I stamp the Sunflower from Serene Sunflower in So Saffron.  The center was stamped in Early Espresso.  Using a Q-Tip I added gold Stickles.  The leaves and stems, from the same set, were stamped in White Craft Ink on Early Espresso. It's actually quite shiny in real life.

********REGINA'S MISSION********

Your mission this week Regina is to create a project using a fall theme.  You can make it a card, a basket, a vase, a box, etc.., in any color combination that suits your fancy. And knowing you, it's going to be spectacular.

Freestyle Fridays

Regina's mission this week was to create with layers.  From the sneak below I love the color combination that she choose.

Especially love how she layered the flower and how she assembled the sentiment.  From the looks of the picture that appears to be Pear Pizzazz (so glad Stampin' Up brought that one back) but won't know for sure until you go to her post here for all the specifics.  If anyone deserves a little love/applause by way of a comment that would be Regina.  Please take a moment to leave her one.

Freestyle Fridays

It's Friday once again and I'm up this week.  I wanted to mix it up a bit so I decided to go with a lot of layering since I don't often do it.

The base is Midnight Muse following by some Rich Razzleberry Designer Paper.  The next layer is Midnight Muse ran through the Big Shot with the Cloudy Day embossing folder.  The sentiment from the Hostess set Simply Sketched was stamped with black ink on Naturals White Card Stock layered with Rich Razzleberry.

The  birds from Serene Silhouettes was stamped in black and to fill space out a bit more I stamped only the branches in the bottom right hand corner.  A little bling in the top left and layered all that on Midnight Muse and Rich Razzleberry.

I'm planning on give this Thank You card to a guy.  Think he'll like it??

********REGINA'S MISSION********

Regina your mission this week will be to layer with as many pieces as you like with a minimum of  3 layers.  You can use all the same color, like maybe all white, or use 2 colors or even 3.  Whatever you decide to choose I just know it will be spectacular.

Freestyle Fridays

I've had nothing but trouble trying to get this post up and running.  The long and short of it - technology and no power got in the way.

Regina has out done herself with her mission this week which was to create with mixed media.  From the picture below she put a lot of work into it.

Be sure to check her blog post here to marvel at her work of art.  I'm sure you'll agree that once you see it she'll deserve a moment of your time to leave her a little comment.  The use of the butterfly charm just adds an extra elegance.

Freestyle Fridays

Here we are in September already.  It's hard to believe that summer is coming to a fast close. Fortunately, you can not tell by the weather we have had around here this week.  The sky is blue and the temperature is warm.  Are we in for a mild winter???  Please!!!

Mix media seems to be coming around quite a bit lately and I thought I would try my hand at it.  I was looking through an old craft magazine and saw this really easy technique and since I had all the supplies on hand I gave it try.

I have yet to replace my stolen camera so you'll have to excuse the poor quality of the picture.  I started with a piece of Very Vanilla and the Shop Around Jumbo Wheel rolled in Chocolate Chip Craft Ink.  I sprinkled clear embossing powder on it quickly and heated it with the heat gun.  Let that cool a bit and applied Crafter's Acrylic Paint in Spun Gold.  Once that was dry I dampened a paper towel with Windshield Washer fluid (I think Windex would the trick too) and wiped the acrylic paint away.  You can't tell from the photo but the effect is a very shimmery gold.  I trimmed to fit on a piece of Elegant Eggplant.  The base is also that color.  I layered Soft Suede DSP from the Neutrals Collection Paper Stack.  In black ink the sentiment from Perfectly Penned was applied to Twill Tape.  Once it was put all together it needed a little something so I looked in my embellishment stack and lo and behold I found decorative flowers that matched perfectly with Elegant Eggplant.  Although I think I used a rather large width twill tape I'm pleased with the effect.  Hope you are too!

********REGINA'S MISSION********

Regina here we are at another week for a challenging mission for you. What to do, What to do??  I know, Mixed Media.  You know what that means....you can use all sorts of fabulous things together.  Here's a few ideas to get you started: stencil, paste, ink, paint, aluminum foil, wax paper.  I think you get the idea and I would be willing to place a small wager that as you read this you already have something in the works.  You are that good!!!!

Freestyle Fridays

Good Friday to you!  The weatherman has promised warm weather for the weekend and clear skies.  Uh Huh.  I'll wait and see on that one.  I don't understand how a person can constantly get it wrong and still keep their job.  It's a mystery.

I was asked for a baby card not so long ago so I decided to take on the challenge.  I don't do many of these and rather struggle with the concept.  So I went looking through the photos I took at convention.  Came upon one that I thought would do the trick and the card below is the result.  I apologize for the dark photo.  My home was recently robbed and my digital camera was taken along with a numerous amount of other items. Photos of this card were in there for which I had not loaded into my computer.  My friend Joanne took a picture and sent it to me by email.

The base is Old Olive with a layer of Rich Razzleberry and First Edition Specialty Paper that was stamped with Old Olive Ink.  The image is from Flowering Flourishes.  Old Olive Organza was added for a delicate touch.  Two colors, Rich Razzleberry and Very Vanilla, were ran through the Big Shot with a Spellbinder Nestabilities.  On the Very Vanilla, the sentiment from Occasions Alphabet was stamped with Old Olive Ink.  I rather like it.

********REGINA'S MISSION********

This week your mission, my dear Nice Regina, is to use designer paper and stamped on it using an offsetting color of course.  You can use it to make a card, box, tag, bookmark, etc, etc. For the rest you, you are always welcome to join in.  Contact us for details.

Here we are at Friday again and it's Regina's turn to WOW us.  And WOW she has.  Her mission this week was to use Pink and from the look of the sneak that she sent me she seems to have use it very ingenuously. Besides, that's what Regina is, a Genius when it comes to crafting.

For a closer look and details head on over to her blog post here and see for yourself what a genius she really is.  All she was given was "use pink" and she came up with something like this!!!  That's a WOW for sure.

Freestyle Fridays

I'm super late posting today!!  I'm usually up at the crack of dawn and this morning it wasn't until 7:15 which is usually the time I am on the highway off to my full time job in the city.  Acckkk!!  It was a quick grooming and never mind checking my look 3 or 4 times before Frankii the dog and I were off and running.

This week's card went to a friend of mine that celebrated a birthday on August 1st.  She loves pink.  I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock and inked up the Floral background stamp with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink and brayered a bit of Spun Sugar over it to soften it up a bit.  Once that was dry I applied Versamark (direct to paper method) and covered that with clear embossing powder.  Unfortunately I could not capture the glossy sheen that this method created.

To make it "pop" even more I layered that on a piece of Basic Black cardstock and used Whisper White as base.  I think the grosgrain ribbon that was layered on top of White Organza ribbon is Pretty In Pink.  I did a ribbon share a long time ago of many different colors and have plenty of it left.  It matched up pretty good.  The butterfly die (Spellbinders Les Papillons Two) was cut 3 times, twice with Whisper White and once with pink glitter cardstock.  I layered those 3 pieces together with Glossy Accents and added two rhinestones to the body.

Here's a closer look.

The Happy Birthday was stamped with Worn Lipstick and I did some sponging with that ink too once I cut the label die cut.

Regina I hope you like the ribbon.  I'm really trying to use it :)

********REGINA'S MISSION********

Regina your mission this week is to use PINK.  I  don't see you using it very often.  Are you up to the challenge??

Please don't hesitate to let us know when you'd like to join in.  We'll make a link to your blog.

Last week Regina was missioned to use purple.  Sometime ago her favorite color was Rich Razzleberry so I surprised to see her use the paler version of Wisteria Wonder.

Looks like she took her time with the details and added some extra special touches.  To get a closer look at her project head on over to her blog post here.  Make sure to leave her a comment to let her know how much you appreciate the time she took to freely describe her technique.

Freestyle Fridays

When I got back to work from Convention I learned that our receptionist has resigned and that today would be her last day.  We have quite a large staff and I always struggle coming up with a card that a large group can sign.  I hope you enjoy what I came up with.  Knowing that blue and purple are two of the recipients favorite colors, I went with Marina Mist and Elegant Eggplant.

On the Whisper White cardstock I began by stamping with Marina Mist Ink an image from Creative Elements.  The two step rose from A Rose is a Rose was first stamped with Elegant Eggplant followed with Pale Plum.  The Whisper White was layered with Elegant Eggplant.  One the Marina Mist die cut, Decorative Labels Eight, I again stamped the image from Creative Elements with Marina Mist then silver embossed the greeting from Sincere Salutations.  The card, once folded, measures 8 1/2 by 5 1/2.

*******REGINA'S MISSION********

Regina, your mission this week is to use the color Purple in any variation that you like.  And, Yes, Rich Razzleberry will count.

Freestyle Fridays - At Convention

Happy Friday to you!  I'm coming to you live from Salt Lake City.  First things first.  Regina has completed yet another successful mission and by the looks of the sneak below she succeeded in "shining" out a male card.

To get the full story and supplies to create this awesome color combination head on over to Regina's blog post here

For the first time ever I'm at the Stampin' Up Demonstrator Convention in Salt Lake City.  It is crazy with very passionate women and a few men here and there sharing what they love.

We managed to have our picture taken by a Stampin' Up staff member.  I think he did a really good job considering I am not photogenic.

The lady on my left, held up by a bamboo stick, is Regina who was not able to attend.  We are taking her everywhere and getting her into all sorts of trouble.  Mind you, she really doesn't need our help much with that.  The lady on my right is my roomie and dear friend Jacoline.  We are having a lot of fun and meeting all sorts of new people and talent.  I'll be posting more pictures soon so stay tune for that.

Freestyle Fridays

I  got the idea for this week's FF straight out of the current Stampin' Up catalog, see page 125. Although I didn't use a Stampin' Up stamp set, none of the ones I own fit the personality of the person receiving this one, I really like the way it turned out.

The base is Basic Gray.  I then took a piece of Smoky Slate Co'ordinations Paper and ran it through the Big Shot with the Forest Branches embossing folder by Cuttlebug which I lightly sanded.  I did swipe it with the Co'ordinations Dust Buddy (warning, it is really sticky and leaves a residue on your hands) that really picks up all the tiny little particulars left after sanding.  It works great!

A piece of Cherry Cobble was ran through the Big Shot with the MFT Fishtail Flag Stax that I cut at the top to fit the front of the card.  With black ink (now I can't remember which brand I used) I stamped two images from the MFT set called On The Line.  Using a small star punch I took out some Stampin' Up Silver Glitter Paper and added 3 stars that I adhered with Dimensionals to give them some added pop.

I did this on the inside

A smaller star stamp was used here. The image is also from On The Line.  I handed delivered this male birthday card this past Wednesday and the fellow rather liked it.  So in my world that's a Mission Accomplished.

********REGINA'S MISSION********

Regina your mission this week is to create a male card that calls for a little "shine".  You can use glitter, glitter paper, stickles, anything that adds sparkle.  The shine need not be the focal point.

I'm off to the Annual Stampin' Up Convention next week and plan on reporting from there since it will be my first time attending.  Wish me luck!

My Freestyle Fridays partner is one talented chick!  And, she was really excited to get started on her mission this week.  So much so it showed up in my  Inbox extra early this week. I've been waiting with anticipation to find out what technique she used.

It appears that she's used one of my favorite Stampin' Up colors - Old Olive.  Join me in discovering more about this gem at Regina's blog post here and let her know your thoughts by leaving her a comment. Your feedback is always welcomed.

Freestyle Fridays

It looks like we are in for a sunny long weekend.  At last!!  We have had so much rain we were beginning to wonder if it would ever stop and needed to build an Ark. Maybe now we can tend to our ever growing weed gardens which are not welcomed.

Brown Sugar has been tumbling around in my head for awhile so I decided to give it a go with this week's card. I began by stamping a doily from the set Delicate Doilies with Brown Sugar on Very Vanilla.

Then I die cut a label from Decorative Labels Eight and completely covered it with Gold Embossing Powder about 3 times.  I let this piece dry overnight.  Before I applied it to the Very Vanilla I bent it a little here and there to give it a "cracked and vintage" look.  With adding so much embossing powder it comes out quite thick.  The flower is from Flowering Flourishes which was once again stamped with Brown Sugar and die cut with a smaller die from Decorative Labels Eight and called it done.

********REGINA'S MISSION********

Regina, this week you are missioned to use embossing powder in any color and/or fashion of your choosing.  You can use more than one color if you like.

Be sure to check out Regina's awesome blog here for daily inspiration and kindly take the time to leave her a little love.

Freestyle Fridays

A few weeks ago it was my dear friend Jacoline's birthday.  I surprised her with this card.

I used a lot of product on this card so I hope I got it right when I wrote them all down.  I started with a base of Rose Red.  To that I added a layer of Whisper White that was first run through the Big Shot with the Tim Holtz Alterations Brick folder that had Basic Gray Ink brayered on.  The clouds were cut with a die cut using Marina Mist and daubed with White Craft Ink to give them a more cloudy look.  Two of them where adhered with mounting tape.  The balloons were also cut with a die cut that I added Gold Cord to with little pieces of Scotch tape.  Some of the balloons were also adhered with mounting tape to give them more dimension.  To finish it off and to really hide the ends of the Gold Cord I ran a piece of Rose Red through the Big Shot with the Tasteful Trim Bigz Die, stamped Happy Birthday from the Curly Cute set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  To give some bling Jewel Basic Rhinestones were added and also because I didn't measure the right amount of sticky tape and you could see it so I decided to hide it.  Sshhhhh, don't tell Jacoline I did that :)

********REGINA'S MISSION********

Regina, your mission this week, should you choose to accept it, is to make balloons. You can stamp them, die cut them, hand draw them, any which way you see fit.  The only criteria is that it makes you giggle somewhere along the way. Have fun!!!

Freestyle Fridays

Every time that Regina sends me a sneak of her completed mission I am always in awe with what she can come up with.  This week is no exception.

Her mission was to use glitter on any kind of project.  She really outdid herself with this one.  Have a look at her post here to see for yourself with an amusing tale on her use of the shiny stuff.  Make sure to leave a little comment please.  She'd love to hear from you and perhaps let her know your tale of using glitter.

Freestyle Fridays

I have a friend at work that never hesitates to help me out.  Heck, she'll even go to the theatre with me to see a play that no one else in my circle is even interested in.  Next weekend we are going to see Amaluna by Cirque du Soleil that I can't wait to see.  She celebrated her birthday on Wednesday and in honor of that I made her this card.  She's off studying this week so she won't get to see it until Monday.  It will be waiting for her at her desk.

Whenever I have trouble deciding on a color combination I always fall to Old Olive and Rose Red.  The French Script (the girl can speak French too which is a bonus since I sometimes forget I can speak English) was stamped with Rose Red.  Then I added a die cut from Twisted Metal Tags & Accents using Rose Red DSP.  From there I built up a wreath of sorts using a fern and leaf punch.  Now for the flowers.  These did not turn out like the video I watched but for a first effort I still like them.  I built the roses using the Rose Creations spellbinder and fussed with them quite a bit to curl them up.  I used a Glue Gloss around the edges and dipped  them in Platinum Dry Fine Glitter.  In the center I added a flower from Adornments using Crystal Effects.

For the inside of the card

I stamped a sentiment from a "My Favorite Things" set and added some balloons left over from another card I'll be sharing at a later date.  Hope she likes it :)

********REGINA'S MISSION********

For this week Regina your mission it to create "something" using glitter.  Seems to me it's been awhile since you have.  It can be anything that you fancy just make sure it glitters!  If it should strike that you would like to join in on these missions please don't hesitate to let us know.  We'd love to have you play along.

Freestyle Fridays

Regina is up this week and her mission was to use a retired Stampin' Up color along with a one layer card.  From the sneak below it looks like she was a little tricky while successfully completing the mission set forth.

It appears to be True Thyme which did not stay around long enough in my opinion.  To check if I'm correct head on over to Regina's post here to see for yourself.  Regina will give you the details and a "how-to create" the card and products that she used.  Please take a minute to leave her comment.  It would really mean a lot to her.

Freestyle Fridays

A very special friend of mine is celebrating a birthday this coming Tuesday (May 21).  I sent this card early hoping that she would receive it on time as I am notorious for sending gifts late.  Don't know if it has arrived as of yet since it went out to the western coast.

I started with Whisper White card stock stamped with the Floral background stamp in Buckaroo Blue (when was the last you used that color?).  Buckaroo Blue card stock was ran through the Big Shot with one of the large dies from the Spellbinder set Decorative Labels Eight.  Don't forget to add a piece of Wax paper when you work with the more intricate dies - your paper comes out with ease and you are left with a second cut to use for another project - image the possibilities with Wax paper.  On the Buckaroo Blue I added a piece of DSP that I found in my stash from a long ago swap.  I do know that it is Stampin' Up but I not know the name.  It's from back in the day when they offered single sided DSP.  I stamped the Beautiful Birthday sentiment with Buckaroo Blue Classic Ink and added 3 Rhinestones.  This was adhered with doubled sided foam tape to give some dimension.  Blue is one of my friend's favorite colors so I try to use that color and do something a little different every year.

********REGINA'S MISSION********

Okay crafty queen, your mission this week is to use a retired color along with ONE other color.  And the kicker, it has to be one layer.  I can see you squinting at the one - stop it - you'll get wrinkles around those beautiful eyes.

Freestyle Fridays

It's Regina's turn this week.  She's treating us to a peek at some new product - embossing folder and punch - coming out at the end of the month.

From this little sneak she did an amazing job with her mission of the color combination consisting of Basic Gray, Pear Pizzazz and Bashful Blue (retiring this month). Check out her blog post here to find out what other products she used.  Regina always included her creative process so be sure to stop by and leave her a little comment of appreciation.
