Freestyle Fridays - Rescued Calendar

Regina comes through every week with her missions with flying colors and this week is no exception.  Look at the colors on this little sneak.

What this woman can do with a smidge of an idea is incredible.  For full details head on over to her blog and she'll explain how this came about and what she used to do it. Your jaw is sure to drop like mine did! And please, leave her a comment on how you appreciate her sharing her talent with us.

Freestyle Fridays - Recycled

This week's card is super simple.  I finished a writing tablet awhile back and kept the backing that had these two cute little dogs on it.  Kinda reminds me of my Frankii.

When Frankii is being stubborn and not in a listening mood he holds his head up like the dog on the left.  When he's happy and wants attention/affection he sniffs your mouth like the dog on the right.  This pose prompted me to purchase the tablet in the first place.  Perhaps these two are related to him.

The last page was glued with extra strength glue and left a rip in the thin cardboard backing.  I added a piece of Always Artichoke followed by some retired designer paper cut with a Memory Box Fence Die and added some more Always Artichoke cut with another Memory Box die.  Once that was done I cut it to size and added it to a base of Crumb Cake.  The sentiment is from Winged Things, retired in 2005 I believe, stamped with Early Espresso Classic Ink.

A tip on sentiments - I inventory mine on an Excel spreadsheet in alphabetical order.  When I need a particular wording I go to the list and it makes it easier to find the stamp set. Saves me a lot of time so I can get back to cardmaking.

********REGINA'S MISSION********

For this week Regina you are missioned to use something around the house you might have been thinking of  throwing out.  It might be the top of a box of chocolates you may have received on Valentine's Day, a photo from last year's calendar, a picture out of a magazine....  You have full reign on the design and type of card, so Yes, it can be Square :)

Freestyle Fridays - Regina Times Two

Seems I threw Regina a curve ball last week by making her mission for this week using only one embellishment. Really?? She asked, more than once  J Only ONE!!!  Yup, only one.  By the looks of the sneak she sent below she did Awesome.

Click here for the full details and a look at both cards she made.  Yes, that's two for the price of one.  And, instructions on the technique she used. Please leave her comment as she would love to hear from you.

Die Cut Challenge - Moxie Fab World

I came across a die cut challenge I just had to try.  And there's a chance to win this magazine.

This is my entry

I used mainly Memory Box dies with So Saffron, Always Artichoke, Baja Breeze and Cherry Cobbler cardstock.  The sentiment "I'm thinking of you" is a Cuttblebug Die.  All elements were adhered with a two way glue pen.  The card stands 9" tall by 4" wide.  I'm really starting to like this type of layout.

If you'd like more info on the challenge click here

Until next time!

Craft Central Project No. 8 - CPC8

I haven't entered or done a challenge in a long long time.  Regina's been doing quite some fabulous work with Craft Central Project which inspired me to enter their latest challenge, No. 8, which is the sketch below.

This is what my imagination came up with.

I used the Simply Soft stamp set, embossed with Pewter on a wood sheet and stamped in Red Riding Hood Classic Ink on So Saffron.  I did distress the wood sheet a bit with the Distressing Essential Kit, although not quite happy with the result.  I found the wood sheet quite hard to distress and not easy to mould to my liking.  The sentiment, you're the BEST is from Perfect Words which was also embossed in Pewter.  Twill tape was added to the bottom with a chocolate chip bow tied ribbon.  The Bigz XL Tasteful Trim Die was used for the trim in Early Espresso Cardstock.

If you'd like to enter this challenge and be chosen as on of the two favorites you've got until the 10th.  Good Luck!

Freestyle Fridays - Double Header

For this week I went with a little simple yet elegant with 2 cards using the same stamp set, colors and layout. The technique is embossing and sponging on the first card, and daubers on the second card.

The card base is Very Vanilla with a layer of Early Espresso.  For the first one, on a layer of Very Vanilla leaves from the stamp set Petal Prints (last seen in the 2006-2007 catalog and still a favorite today) were embossed with clear embossing powder. The Charcoal, Mahogany and Tea Stain colors from the Distressing Essentials Kit were sponged in a circular motion then wiped with a paper towel.  On a second piece of Very Vanilla the sentiment Thank You was stamped with Early Espresso classic Ink.  This was adhered to the bottom part of the embossed piece and a strip of Cherry Cobbler Quilted Satin Ribbon was added to strategically hide the seam between the two Very Vanilla Layers.

On the second card the same method was used with the exceptions of the stamp used (still from Petal Prints) and the Blue color (again from the Distressing Essentials Kit) was added.  The color combination on this one is a favorite between the two.  The sentiment was also stamped in Early Espresso classic ink.

Both of these cards are in the mail to two very special people in my life as of the writing of this post.  Going to keep it a surprise as to who the recipients are. Shouldn't be much longer ladies.  They were mailed on Jan 30.

********REGINA'S MISSION********

To help your creativity flowing this week Regina, you are missioned to make two cards using the same stamp set, same colors and same technique.  The challenging part, keep it simple and one embellishment only!

See Ya Next Week!
