Feminine Fridays Week #1

For some time I've been thinking of doing an alternative to the Manly Mondays. Early this week, Eileen, from one of the Yahoo Groups that I participate in, sent me this message: "I'm really glad you posted the Manly Monday cards. I find it very inspiring when people post their ideas and it just triggers all kinds of creativity in me. I wish more people would post their ideas. It's so much fun when they do."   She also included some incredible titles for everyday of the week. With her "good luck" the title of Feminine Fridays was born. Thank You Eileen, you are one creative and generous soul!

I followed that by contacting my Stampin' Sista Regina.  Regina and I have been "blogging friends" for almost a year now.  Amazing how a friendship can blossom over a "how do I ??" in a Yahoo post. She is one crafty individual and I'm honored that we are going to do this together.

Here is our first contribution. This was made for a co-worker that had a bridal shower at work this week.  I found out that her bridal party colors are red and black.  I chose Ruby Red and ran with it.

I started by making Thank You cards. I can not recall the name of the Cuttlebug folder that I used. I'm not very good at labeling these when I get them. Should you know, please drop me a note. The "Thank You" was stamped with Black Staz-On from the Thank You Kindly Set and I used the small corner rounder on the layer and the Whisper White Cardstock.

I then covered this little box with Ruby Red Designer Paper and embossed the bride from the For The Bride Stamp set in White.  Did the same for the Sentiment.  Also put some white paper flowers and put a Diamond Brad from the Pretties Kit in the middle. I put as many cards in the box that would fit, I think it turned out to be 16.  I really didn't count then, I just stuffed the box.

For the gift card, a Love Note was used.  Pulled out the large petals, stamped  Congratulations from the For The Bride Set in Ruby Red and adhered some Double Sided Designer Paper.  The inside of the card is below.  The swirl design on the envelope and inside the gift card is from the Friendship Blooms set (Hostess Level from a few years ago).  I also put the same swirl inside the Thank You card in the bottom left corner. (Sorry, no Pic!)

Be sure to drop by Regina's blog and have a look at what she's been up to.  You are in for a treat.

See Ya Next Week!

Manly Mondays Week #14

When I started doing the Manly Mondays cards I wanted to make a really WOW for the very first one. As it turns out, I over thought it and it just sat on my table.  I was looking at it again this week and decided to just go with it.  It's actually a take on a card from a Company's Coming book, with not so many elements.

Now that the new Stampin' Up catalog is out, almost everything used for this card has retired.  The only two exceptions are the Bravo Burgundy Cardstock and the Chocolate Chip Ink.

Set: Wanted
Cardstock: True Thyme, Bravo Burgundy, Mellow Moss
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Tools: Big Shot Textured Diamond Plate followed by using the Sanding Block, Distressing Tool
Elements: Wide Twill Tape, Silver Hodgepodge Buckle, Staring You Brads

I kept hearing this strange noise coming from the kitchen window the other night. A sound I had never heard before.  And look what I found.

This owl was actually looking the other way when I stepped outside.  It freaked me out when he turned his head.  It was only 8:00pm and I was disappointed when the picture came out so dark as the sun was barely down and wouldn't be for another two hours. Must learn to quickly change the settings on my camera. Right after this shot he took flight and flew into a tree on the property next door. He hasn't been back that I know of.  Would be really cool for a Halloween card.

Manly Mondays Week #13

Does it have to be Valentine's Day to show your loved one "the love"? I've always thought "not".  This one is quite simple and took no time to put together.

Cardstock: Real Red, Whisper White, Cherrie DSP (I think??)
Stamp Set: Pendant Park
Ink: Basic Grey
Non SU Embossing Folder

Even though I found the way I layered the bench came out looking like a toaster I still went with it. It was probably due to the fact that it was raining along with quite a bit of thunder when this was in production and I wanted to get the heck out of Dodge (downstairs).  Quite often when there's thunder it sounds like a car door slamming and Frankii goes wild.  We've had rain almost everyday for the last month. Sometimes a little, sometimes a lot.  Forcast for this week is rain with more rain.

Three years ago today Frankii came to stay with us.  He was just 4 months old and we were getting ready to move to "the country".

Here he is relaxing in the shade at the old house after peeking in almost every box we were packing.  All I had to do to get him to follow me was have something in my hand.  He still does that! :)

Manly Mondays Week #12

When I was trying to figure out what kind of card to make for this week's Manly Mondays I realized I already had one made. Gotta like that!  At this month's card class I demoed the soot stamping technique.  You can find the tutorial on Splitcoaststampers here.

Cardstock colors used: Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake and Basic Black.
Stamp Sets: In The Wild (retired) and Define Your Life
Ink: Black StazOn
Brads were provided by the one and only Betty.

This would be perfect for a graduate or a young man leaving home for the first time.
