Manly Mondays

I had originally planned to use this card for Throwback Thursdays.  Time got away from me and I did not get a chance to make a post it.  It seems fitting for manly card even thought the stamp sets used are retired so here goes.

The base is Barely Banana covered with a piece of Early Espresso that was embossed in gold using the Bamboo Background Stamp.  Stampin' Up used to print the year on the sticker for the stamp.  This one says 2000.  This was before Stampin' Up came to Canada.  Oh My !!  For the sentiment "Celebrate", also embossed in gold,  from Love Sparkles, a piece of Barely Banana was placed behind Early Espresso that was adhered using Dimensionals to give the card some depth.  All that embossing is much more shiny in real life.

Until Next Time !

Manly Mondays

On Thursdays I set up at a bakery near my home and do Coffee and a Card.  This week we will be using the stamp set Feather Together.  This is one of the cards we will be doing.

Starting with a base of Dapper Denim Cardstock I layered a piece of Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Paper measuring 1" x 4".  On Whisper White Cardstock measuring 3" x 4 1/2" with Dapper Denim Classic Ink one of the feathers was stamped 5 times.  The Happy Birthday sentiment was added using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  Before adhering this to the card I took a new pencil and dabbed the eraser part directly into the Dapper Denim Ink Pad and added "circles" to the base to give it some texture.  Rather pleased with the effect.

To purchase any of the product used above please go directly to my store here (Canada only).  I'll send you a little gift for doing so.

Drop me a line when you are able to join on Thursdays from 1:30 to 3:30 and I'll make sure that there is a seat available for you.

Until Next Time !

Manly Mondays

On the weekend I happen to catch an episode of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.  Will had on a shirt that inspired this card.  I have to tell you, it did not go in the direction that I had planned out. I was going to start all over but then the more I looked at it the more I liked it.

On a base of Always Artichoke I adhered a layer of Sahara Sand, followed by a layer of Always Artichoke Designer Paper.  By doing that the Designer Paper almost looks gold.  On a piece of Always Artichoke I applied VersaMark then a light orange embossing powder (that's been in my craft room for what seems like forever) that made me think of the colors around us right now.  I repeated the process roughly 8 times.  The leaf from Vintage Leaves was stamped with VersaMark then added to the embossing powder while still hot and left there for a minute.

I did not get the impression I was going for.  So I walked away from it for a while.  When I later picked it up it cracked.  Well, I thought, why don't I over emboss the impression with green embossing powder.  So I did that and once it was dry I cracked it some more.  Tilted it to add to the card with dimensionals since the layer is quite thick with all the embossing.

In the end I am quite pleased with the result.  Hope you think so too.

Until next time !

Throwback Thursdays

This week I decided to have a go at the Gentler Times stamp set that first appeared in the Winter Mini Catalog of 2003 - 2004.  This set was only around for 3 catalogs.

I've often used the heart for a Valentine card, congratulations on your engagement and weddings.  For this week I went for something completely different.

On a base of True Thyme I added a layer of Brushed Gold.  Yes, I have a lot of these 2 colors in my stash.  Before I added a layer of True Thyme I embossed the filigree stamp with Gold Glory embossing powder on each side. The flower was stamped 3 times on True Thyme, also embossed, then punched with the 1" square punch and attached with dimensionals.

Unfortunately I could not capture the actual shine of the gold embossing with my iPhone camera.  I'll be sending this card to someone in the near future, for which occasion, I'm not sure yet.

Hope you have found some inspiration to use this set, or a similar one that you may have forgotten you had.

Until Next Time !

Manly Mondays

When I was thinking of a card for today I knew I definitely wanted something that would POP.  I sure did use a lot of product.

On a card base of Early Espresso I added a layer of DSP from Year of Cheer. Before adhering it I attached a strip of Burlap Ribbon with some Copper Trim on top.  On Garden Green, Daffodil Delight and Cajun Craze the leaf stamp from Painted Harvest was embossed in Gold.  I punched those out with the leaf punch and used Multi Purpose Tombow to glue them behind the Burlap Ribbon.

For the sentiment two images from Label Me Pretty were embossed in gold, punched with the Pretty Label punch and attached with dimensionals.

All the products mentioned above can be purchased on my online store HERE. Make sure to add Host Code TJQH6PS2 to be entered in my draw to win the exclusive Merry Patterns stamp set.  To qualify place a $50.00 order (not including tax or shipping) by September 30th and you will be automatically entered.  Canadian residents only. Draw will be held on October 1st.

Throwback Thursdays

Another of my favorite SU Colors that has retired is Concord Crush.  I love the deep richness to it. Today's card is featuring this color with Brocade Background DSP.

I have a few customers that still like the Lotus Blossom photopolymer set that was available during Sale-A-Bration January 6, 2015 to March 31, 2015.

On a piece of Very Vanilla measuring 2" x 4 1/4" I used Concord Crush Classic Ink with the 3 floral stamps either full strength ink and/or stamped off once. Mossy Meadow Classic Ink was used for the stems.  The sentiment is from the same set using Tuxedo Black Memento.

Thanks for dropping by today.

Until next time !

Throwback Thursdays

Welcome to my Throwback Thursdays.  I'm excited to bring these ideas to you so that you may gather ideas on retired Stampin' Up! products.  Almost Amethyst is one of my all time favorite Stampin' Up! colors.  And, yes, when it retired I made sure I had plenty on hand.

The base of this card and designer paper is Almost Amethyst.

Using the Painted Petals Clear Mount Stamp Set, which I won at a Stampin' Up! demonstrator only event, I stamped the stems with Olive Green.  The flowers were on the same stamp.  Wanting a different effect I cut the stamp in two. Using Almost Amethyst Classic Ink I stamped it off once, doing this 5 times to the top of the stems.  With the other part of the flower stamp I simply inked it with Almost Amethyst and stamped over the lighter version.

The Happy Birthday stamp is from Perfectly Penned using Basic Black Ink.

Manly Mondays - Happy Birthday

I was in need of a Manly Birthday Card recently and it gave me enough encouragement to get back to posting Manly Mondays.  Ideas came flooding and I thought I would start with this rather simple card.

When I fist saw the new In-Color Lemon Lime Twist I thought WOW that is bright!!  I tend to shy away from bright colors.  Once I saw it paired up with Basic Black I liked it. Which is how this idea came to be.

The base is Lemon Lime Twist.  On a piece of Basic Black, the Happy Birthday Thinlit was die cut at an angle.  Added 3 rhinestones in the corner, who says men don't like bling, and punched a balloon in the corner.  Quick card and really easy to assemble.

Hope this gave you an idea to use this color combination.

Until next time!
