Kind Thoughts Brocade Stencil

My poor little blog has been neglected for so long! I've been creating like mad. Just haven't taken the time to post. For a craft fair in the fall and Christmas gifts I made "treasure boxes" using the Kind Thoughts Brocade Stencil by Stampin' Up. I loved experimenting with this stencil and playing with the items used. This box was inspired by a fellow demo Regina Andari Take a minute to look at her creations. You are sure to find inspiration, I know I have. I used the same colors - Soft Suede and Bermuda Bay. I started by sponging the wood box with Soft Suede. I layed the stencil on top and applied stencil paste. Waited a minute or so to ensure that the paste was in place and carefully removed the stencil. Let it completely dry overnight. The next day I sponged Bermuda Bay here and there, added some half pearls from the Pretties Kit with Crystal Effects and the project was done. Quite pleased with the end result but not pleased with the way it photographs. My lighting did not pick up the Bermuda Bay and the Soft Suede is looking darker than it actually is....

For the fair I also made kits entitled 2009 Wife/Husband Survival Kits. In the Wife version I made a Father's Day card using the stencil again. I simply layed the stencil on Vanilla cardstock and sponged Not Quite Navy. Sponged the edges a little and adhered to Not Quite Navy cardstock. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes stamped on Shimmery Paper using Not Quite Navy classic ink and the label punch. Added a little bling (not Stampin' Up). On the inside I stamped the image from the Kind Thoughts set on a layer of Vanilla.

I'm off to play with some new supplies!

Julie, your box turned out great! I love the raised look of stencil paste, but it's hard to wait for it to dry. ;-) Great job!
