Manly Mondays - 1 Year Anniversary

Happy Anniversary to Manly Mondays!  Yup, it's already been a year.  Who knew this would last a year and beyond.  It's been a blast and your comments and encouragement have kept it going.

A Thank You card seemed fitting for today.  I've had a napkin Spray Mounted to a piece of Brushed Gold floating around in the craft room for awhile now.  It was intended for a particular project that has long been abandoned.  Looking at it yesterday the inspiration came to make this card.

Using one of the upcoming In Colors - Island Indigo - and a stamp from the Thanks Kindly set this card came together really quickly.  The Thanks is embossed in gold and punched out using the 2 3/8 Scallop Circle and a hand held punch.  Quick but effective in conveying appreciation to your Manly Man.

WHAT'S UP WITH FRANKII

Frankii boy has been a little busy this past week. Busy burying his bone under my pillows that is.  It's Saturday morning which means fresh linen on the bed.  The pillows are fluffed and arranged, bedroom is straightened up, vacuumed and dusted.  Off we go to do other things.  Frankii is suffering from Cabin Fever since it is raining yet again.  Wanting to keep him busy I gave him one of his favorite bones.  Off he goes to his house (kennel) to have a good chew, or so I thought, and off I go to do other housework.  A few minutes later I notice he is not in his house which is where he is suppose to be when eating his large treats.  I hear sounds coming from the bedroom and think "what the heck..."  There he was, burying his bone under my pillow.

Does this look not have GUILTY written all over it.  Why Frankii Why under the pillow??? He then proceeded to bury it in the couch after much effort of getting the throw out of the way.  Ughh!  It's been one of those weeks although entertaining.  Mr. Summer it's time for you to make an appearance, PLEASE!!

Freestyle Fridays - A Preview of What's to Come

There is a new Stampin' Up Catalog going live on July 1st.  Included in the catalog will be some new colors.  This card features one of the new colors, Lucky Limeade.

The base is Lucky Limeade with a layer of some new DSP called Paisley Petals.  All the edges with punched with a corner rounder punch.  The images are from a new set called My Friend.  The Hello was stamped with Always Artichoke Classic Ink.  The curlicues were traced with a glitter gel pen.  On a piece of Lucky Limeade the other image was also stamped with Always Artichoke Classic Ink and completely traced with the same gel pen and trimmed.  A leaf punch was used with Always Artichoke DSP and arranged along the right angle and adhered with a two way glue pen.  I love the effect of the gel pen.

******** REGINA'S MISSION ********
Regina your mission this week is rather a simple one.  Make something using the new in color, Lucky Limeade. You can incorporate other colors, just be sure to have Lucky Limeade as the focal point.

Freestyle Fridays - Designer Paper Tag

Regina has incorporated last week's mission into a birthday gift tag for her precious Mom.  Since her gift is too large to wrap Regina wanted to come up with something that would decorate the gift and give it a wrapped feel.

Regina spells it out for you here including the size and supplies used. I especially like this designer paper and like it even more now with the way Regina designed this tag.  Her attention to detail makes it ever so special.  Once you've had a chance to read her post please leave her a comment.  We know you're there :) and it's always nice to hear from you.

Manly Mondays

I've got a really quick card for you today with a funny tidbit.  We were making fun of people coming up with excuses for not coming to work or why they are late the other day.  The lady that sit next to me says "I don't think I can come to work tomorrow"  "Why not" two of us ask. "My hamster is sick" "Oh really" I say "what's his or her name"  "Stanley" she replies.  I go further and ask "is that with an "e-y" or just a "y".  She says "E-y"  Then the laughter broke out.  She doesn't even have a hamster HAHA.  So this card came about.

I beat her to work the next morning and this card was waiting for her with the envelope addressed to Stanley.  When she arrived she saw the envelope right away and her eyes went up to the ceiling with an "Oh Lord Help Me".  Fun way to start the day.

Talking about a fun way for the day, what could be more fun that this.

I just got home from work and Frankii is doing his run around the dining room table barking "Brian is here with the new catalog".  And out the door he flies to inspect/sniff at his tires like he always does.  Hey Frankii, it's not the tires you care about today, it's the catalog!  Guess what I'll be doing right after dinner.  Yes, Betty, there is one for you in that white box :)

WHAT'S UP WITH FRANKII

When Frankii had a lot of hair, Lord, I don't miss those days, I use to refer to his hind leg as "a big chicken leg".  About 5 weeks ago I was in a dollar store and came across a big chicken leg so on a lark I bought it for him.  He paid it no mind at all except for this weekend.  He dragged it all over the place. And, I mean, all over.  He attempted to take it outside and was quite disappointed when he couldn't.

I'm kinda scared to touch it with this look on his face LOL.  I woke up in the middle of the night and there was this leg in the middle of his bed and he was sleeping beside his bed.  Guess he wanted his leg to have all the comfort.  He's such a character at times I tell ya!

Freestyle Fridays With a Colored Mission

The Stampin' Up Last Chance List is out and as most of you know I'm not a stickler at using only current SU products.  These sets are saying "Adieu" and I can guarantee you they will make an appearance on this blog: Bella Toile, Priceless, Fresh Cuts, Define Your Life (Seriously!!) just to name a few favorites. With that said this week's card features some retired products that will remain in this stamper's craft room for quite some time.

The colors are Wild Wasabi (which was once retired by the way), Rose Red and So Saffron.  The card is a 5x5 square.  The True Friend stamp is from Simple Friendship, also on the Last Chance List that I just purchased 2 weeks ago.  Just my luck I guess. It was stamped in all 3 colors. To make the flower I started with So Saffron Designer Paper and used the Bigz XL Flower Folds. To that I layered Rose Red Designer Paper petals punched from the Flower Blossom Punch (at least that's what I think it's called, I can't seem to locate it in a catalog but it is SU).  There are 8 petals in total. The Wild Wasabi flower is the Originals Blossom Party Die.  The So Saffron button was cut with the Embosslit Sweet Buttons, added especially for Miss Regina's love of buttons.  The Rose Red curlies are cut using the Sizzlits Decorative Strip Swirly.

********REGINA'S MISSION********
Regina, your mission for this week, and as always, should you choose to accept, is to make a card using 3 - Three or Tree as we French people pronounce it - different colored Designer Paper, current or otherwise.

Manly Mondays

Time just got away from me yesterday and I didn't get much of a chance to spend it at my computer. Admittedly I've lost some mojo when it comes to making masculine cards.  This card is actually the 50th since I started doing Manly Mondays last year.  Maybe it's time to move on to something else.... While I ponder on that here's the card and details.

Started with a piece of Very Vanilla and stamped the French Script Background with Cherry Cobbler.  Using the Big Shot I cut two different size square Nesties in Very Vanilla and Crumb Cake. On the Very Vanilla I stamped the rooster from Rustic Rooster with Early Espresso. I loved this set when it first came out and sadly this is the first time I've used it.  With a dauber I edged both squares with Cherry Cobbler and mounted those with square mounts to give some height.  The craft feathers from a $ store where daub with Cherry Cobbler and Early Espresso.  I cut those down a bit which in hindsight was probably not a very good idea.  Now I have tiny little feathers all over my craft table.  Should be interesting to see if some appear on the next project.

WHAT'S UP WITH FRANKII

Frankii seems to have moved on from searching for that squirrel.  Mind you we haven't heard or spotted it in quite some time.  Now, he's waiting for the bunnies to appear which happens on a daily basis.  Two of them hop along our drive mid morning.

As soon as they appear you know it. The dining room table is a few feet away from the picture above and round and round he goes singing his "let me out, let me out" song to get at them. He spends so much time at the window I've worn the paint off the trim cleaning his face prints on the sill.

He still looks dashing with his new look.  Look how curly the end of his tail is. It's makes me giggle everytime. Especially when his tail is going a mile a minute.  Frankii has been very kind and gentle with Dollie's new sister Lucy.  Apparently his taken it upon himself at daycare to show her the ropes.  That's My Boy!

Freestyle Fridays - Regina's Gift Bag

Regina came through with her mission this week in completing a gift bag.

Just look at this fabulous color combination. This mission was perfect timing as Regina was in need of a gift for a recent graduate.  Here's all the details for you. I admire Regina for always being able to combine colors that go perfectly together. Almost makes me wish I was back in school :)
